Musketeer’s Principals and Engineers all have extensive experience working in both Type and Continuing Airworthiness management. Some have been Type Airworthiness Authorities and all have led multi-disciplinary teams supporting, structural, propulsion, mechanical systems and avionics programmes. Musketeer is able to provide independent airworthiness advice and support to customers or lead complex investigations including aspects such as maintenance error management and human factors in addition to pure technical analysis.
Musketeer has a long association with through-life cost optimisation based on improvements to maintenance schedules. Our maintenance schedule review team are all currently involved in Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) tasks and have an in-depth understanding of the nuances of working with aircraft of all types. They are adept practitioners, well versed in military and civil policy and regulation, able to apply RCM techniques to any maintained system. They are also experienced technical authors, working alongside our technical publications support team to provide new or revised maintenance documentation that can save time and money.
Musketeer is at the forefront of fresh thinking around effective Safety Management and is able to provide a range of services from Hazard and Risk Management to creation and audit of Safety Management Systems. Our collaboration with ASPECT® Safety Performance Consulting Ltd has taken this service to a new level with a ground-breaking safety performance assessment tool. In addition, as an ISO 14001:2015 approved organisation, Musketeer upholds the highest environmental standards and is able to implement them for clients. Our long history of supporting aircraft sales and disposal, from Nimrod to the C-130 fleets, has shown that we can plan and execute the safe removal of potentially hazardous material.

Musketeer has a long association with Military and Civil Regulators as well as Single-Service engineering leaders. We have contributed widely to the development of the Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publications and have also drafted Defence Standards. Musketeer is able to translate this intimate knowledge of the aims and intents of regulations into compliant solutions for clients. Whether it is providing a Maintenance Approved Organisation Scheme (MAOS) Exposition and allied procedures, or a certification argument for a modification, Musketeer is ready to help.
Musketeer began life providing engineering expertise to ensure safe, sustainable air systems are available at minimum cost. Our engineers have a unrivalled experience in Continuing and Type Airworthiness and take pride in their work. Our intimate knowledge of airworthiness regulations has seen Musketeer become a leading supplier of Independent Physical Condition Surveys and of Ageing Air System Audits, utilizing our ARAMIS product to record and analyse results. We are market leaders in this field and retain a team of qualified auditors and aircraft surveyors who are also adept at undertaking Repair Assessment Programmes. Our highly experienced engineers also have extensive experience of aircraft modification from certification to embodiment.
Musketeer can provide technical advice and guidance on all aspects of the Operating Safety Case (OSC) required by the CAA, in accordance with CAP 722A, to support an application for operation of an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) in the Specific UAS Category. Drawing from our extensive experience of aircraft operations, our team can assist with preparation of all 3 elements of the OSC covering the Operations Manual (Volume 1), Technical Systems Description (Volume 2), and the Safety Risk Assessment (Volume 3).
Musketeer provides specialist technical support to the HQ AIR COMMAND 2 GROUP Space & Battlespace Management Force; our work is frequently focussed on the United Kingdom Ballistic Missile Warning System but also covers other radars, both military and civilian. Our internationally recognised team of experts are able to deliver intelligent, thoughtful and cost-effective technical support, including safeguarding solutions. Particular areas of Musketeer expertise include the design and control of large-array radars, operational testing and scenario planning, safeguarding, interference effects and modelling, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive effects and modelling, windfarm/radar interaction studies and solutions, data fusion, along with radar prediction & technical analysis.
Musketeer understands the importance of translating technical data into intelligence and we drafted the Defence Standard for Technical Data Exploitation. We have undertaken pioneering research in the use of low-cost modular signal recorders and allied parametric data gathering equipment for in-flight monitoring of aircraft and their systems. Our collaboration with Cosworth Electronics Ltd has resulted in the creation of a Parametric Data Gathering System (PDGS) for small aircraft, derived from Formula 1 technology. We are developing this system with the use of Artificial Intelligence into a predictive tool. Musketeer currently manages PDGS for the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, providing hardware and software support as well as data analysis.
Musketeer strives to continually evolve and improve, adopting the latest technology where appropriate. A portion of our annual budget is dedicated to Research and Development and we have worked closely in the past with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), academia and multi-national companies to bring our R&D ideas to life. We developed the award-winning Aging Aircraft Programme Laboratories for fixed wing aircraft and helicopters using redundant aircraft within a multi-year DSTL R&D programme. Our current areas of research include data fusion, damage mapping, in-flight monitoring and aircraft sustainability.
