Musketeer completes Spitfire Aircraft Maintenance Schedule Review

Spitfire

Musketeer Solutions has recently conducted a complete review and update of the Maintenance Schedules for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s (BBMF) Spitfire aircraft.

UK MOD regulations, set out by the Military Aviation Authority, require the Schedules for all RAF aircraft to be kept up to date.

Musketeer has highly experienced staff who use Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) techniques to review all aspects of preventive maintenance.

RCM techniques are used in order to optimize aircraft scheduled maintenance around the operational requirements of the fleet.

During the BBMF display season over the summer period, the Spitfire aircraft receive routine servicings before and after flight, with more in-depth activities undertaken in the winter months.

As a result of the review, the Musketeer RCM Team constructed a new edition of the Spitfire Master Maintenance Schedule and the associated subordinate Schedules.

These new publications will provide the BBMF technicians with the optimized Schedules to meet their flight servicing and deeper maintenance requirements for many years to come.

The RCM Team has now moved on to review the Maintenance Schedules for the BBMF’s Hurricane aircraft.

Joint Managing Director, Adrian Parrish, said:

“The new Spitfire Schedules are the result of much hard work by the Musketeer team and they represent an excellent product for the long term support of the valuable aircraft in the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight”.
